Here are some breathing techniques to help calm the nervous system.
Find a comfortable seated position
Close your eyes
If possible, inhale and exhale through the nose
- Even Breaths
Inhale for a count of 3, exhale for a count of 3 repeat x 3-5
Inhale for a count of 4, exhale for a count of 4 repeat x 3-5
Inhale for a count of 5, exhale for a count of 5 repeat x 3-5
Feel free to stay at any of the breath counts that is comfortable for you, and repeat as many times as you like around 5min for most benefit.
- Alternate Nostril Breathing
Using you thumb and ring finger we alternate blocking nostrils taking a full breath in and out of each.
Block the right nostril, inhale through left, block left, exhale right
Inhale right, block right, exhale left
Inhale left, block left, exhale right
Repeat this as many times as you like, 5-10min for the most benefit, you can set a timer.
